Fernalds Country Store Returns to Damariscotta, March 24, 2010
Sumner Fernald Richards has been running S. Fernald's Country Store since 1990, first in Damariscotta, then in Waldoboro. Sumner was born S. Fernald Richards, III, after his father and grandfather. He was born in Farmington, Maine and has lived in Lincoln County since 1985. In addition to running Fernald's, he has been on the stage of The Waldo Theater and LCCT.
Kit Hayden, a recent partner in S. Fernald's Country Store, can been seen on the stage of LCCT and as co-host on the weekly Local Cable Access show Wuzzup. A former research meteorologist in Madison, WI, Kit retired to Maine in 1995 and has been coming to his family cottage in S. Bristol since he was a boy. He also writes a weekly blog called Loose Canon.
Matt Peters is a Lincoln Academy graduate, who lives in Edgecomb. Matt has been working at Fernald's since it reopened in Damariscotta in April, 2010.
Jonathan Hoffman, a Whitefield native, has been working at Fernald's off and on since 2010.
Carisa Salerno is a Lincoln Academy graduate from Bristol and has worked in restaurants since she was a kid, beginning at the Samoset Restaurant, which was formerly owned by her parents.
Cayce Begin grew up in Newcastle, when to high school in CA, and is now back to Damariscotta. Her parents own a carpet and violin shop in town.
Jesse Tavaras is a Lincoln Academy graduate who has been working for the past five years at a restaurant in Damariscotta and has recently joined the Fernald's crew.
Hayden Crowell, a recent Lincoln Academy graduate, worked at Fernald's in the summer and can still occassionally be seen behind the counter.
Natasha Salvo lives in Newcastle where she juggles a part-time job as technical writer with her involvement with Fernald's as bookkeeper. She has been seen on the stage of Lincoln County Community Theater and other local theater and choral groups.
Pam Jackman, who started Fernald's with Sumner 20 years ago, is a teacher in Damariscotta. Pam works at Fernald's in the summer.
Josh Richards, Sumner's younger son, worked at Fernald's in the summer during his break from Lincoln Academy.
